This project, called Koha, was done in a group where the assignment was to advertise a Neighbours Day event. It had to have three different touch points.
Expect the Unexpected is an event for Neighbours Day which involves hosting a picnic lunch by bringing people together to talk about getting prepared in case of an emergency as well as allowing for people to meet their neighbours.
The rhetorical approach we have addressed is expect the unexpected. We portrayed this by using wild animals within a neighbourhood environment. The visual language we have utilised enhances this idea through an illustrative style to create a metaphoric idea for our overall design. Our approach influences how people should be prepared for an emergency at any time.
The purpose of the poster is to encourage people to attend the Neighbours Day picnic event to learn how to be prepared. If they want to learn more about the event or how they can get prepared they can visit our website (which isn't shown here) which provides resources for before and after the day of the event.
On the website, there are more illustrations of animals to help keep the style consistent as well as continuing to tell the story. There is also a form where people can sign up and say how many people are attending for catering. This website can also be used for other neighbourhoods for their events. The attendees of our event will receive a tote bag which they can take away. By using this tote bag, it is a reminder to prepare for the unexpected when they go out. Inside the bag, there are stickers which they can place on their emergency supplies to keep them in order, an emergency supply kit list and a neighbours contact sheet.
